Debunking Mediation Myths: by Steven H. Kruis

Myth No. 1: All Mediations are the same -- One Size Fits All.  There are at least three types of mediation models: the facilitative, the evaluative, and the hybrid. Play the Prisoner's Dilemma Game

The famous "Prisoner's Dilemma" game (Axelrod, 1984) often has been been used in mediation and negotiation training. In this game, two players can choose between two moves, either "cooperate" or "defect." The idea is that each player gains when both cooperate. However, if only one of them cooperates the other one, who defects, will gain more. If both defect, both lose (or gain very little) but not as much as the cooperator whose cooperation is not returned. Those who enjoy playing this game, will be pleased to learn that it now can be played online.
